What to Expect in Therapy

I want to start by acknowledging that coming to therapy for the first time can feel like a really big step. It’s totally normal to feel a little nervous or unsure about what to expect. My goal here is to create a space that feels safe, non-judgemental, and supportive. There is no right or wrong way to share, and we’ll move at a pace that feels okay for you.
Our first session is really about getting to know you, what’s been going on in your world, what’s brought you here, and what you hope to get out of our time together. You’re in control of what you share and when, and I’ll be right there with you, every step of the way. We’ll go step by step, and you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.
As we build trust and understanding, we’ll begin to explore your personal history, current challenges, and goals for therapy. I’ll work with you to create a plan that’s tailored to your unique story, your values, emotions, interests, and needs. Along the way, therapy can help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings, develop healthier coping tools, and feel more empowered in your everyday life.
More than anything, I want you to feel heard, supported, and safe throughout your healing journey.
